Job Description
My client is a major, oil operator located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. They work primarily onshore and have recently started to develop several shallow water sites. They are currently seeking a Geoscience Specialist. The main function of this role is to lead geomodeling and geoscience activities in a multidisciplinary team for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) deployment. They will also provide advice related to Reservoir Geology matters to help the EOR team achieve their EOR pilots objectives.
Further responsibilities of this position will include:
*Analysing, interpreting and integrating broad data sets (seismic, rock physics, core, petrophysics, structural, sedimentology, stratigraphy and dynamic data) for reservoir characterization
*Promoting effective integration of the key aspects of Reservoir Geology with other disciplines during the elaboration of integrated sector models for EOR pilots.
*Conducting and reviewing characterization of naturally fractured reservoirs based on regional geology, analysis of core, image logs and production data in order to be included in the geocellular models.
*Constructing Discrete Fracture Network (DFN) models for fractured reservoirs and performing advanced geostatistical analysis for property distribution.
*Providing support and consultation for the development of geophysical projects (seismic acquisition, anisotropic processing, microseismic, VSP, pore-pressure and new technologies)
*Providing support for horizontal well geosteering and well completion program, identifying fracture corridors, faults and sweet-spots.
*Maintaining Petrel database with upcoming new data (wells, seismic, microseismic, petrophysics).
Empowerment to exercise maximum freedom, within broad professional and industry standards, is a key attribute of the position. You will occupy a front-line, visible and high profile position. Regular high level contacts with Management and Shareholder representatives and major oil Service Companies on specific technical issues related with Geosciences activities, with the focus on Reservoir & Review Geology. As requested, you will participate in EOR pilots Planning and provide consultation on the work issues and progress.
To be eligible for this role, you must currently hold a BSc Geology or Geophysics and have more than 12 years varied relevant industry experience. You need to have significant experience in the application of geosciences in appraisal, well planning and execution, field development, reservoir characterization, geological modeling and interface with reservoir simulation models.
Focus on Reservoir Geology. You must also have software proficiency including experience with packages for modeling (Petrel/VoxelGeo), seismic interpretation (SeisEarth/ Stratimagic)
