• Provide expert skills (scientific and project management) within the area of Petroleum Systems Analysis.
• Provide advice/assistance within our Geochemistry and Petroleum Systems Department and other departments as necessary. QC and review reports prior to dispatch to client.
• Apply mathematical models and techniques to assist in the solution of scientific problems in the oil and gas industry and seek out new applications of mathematical analysis.
• Actively develop new business by promoting/marketing our skills and experience to clients.
• Actively present papers/posters at key scientific and industry meetings/conferences.
• Coach others, especially junior members of the Geochemistry and Petroleum Systems team, as well as staff in other departments as necessary.
• Actively continue to research new and cutting edge technology/methods/approaches in the Geochemistry and Petroleum Systems field.
Key Requirements
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
BSc Geology degree (or equivalent).
MSc Petroleum Geochemistry degree (or similar).
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
Significant experience in Petroleum Systems Analysis (normally 5-10 years).
An exploration background.
Experience in integrated 3D Petroleum Systems Analysis (holistic combination of geology, geochemistry, basin modeling).
Practical application of Petroleum Systems results into Play/Prospect Risk Mapping.
Experience in 1D and map-based basin modeling (particularly ZetawareTM Kinex, Genesis, and Trinity).
Experience in 2D fluid flow basin modeling.
Experience in project management and teamwork (including strong interpersonal and organisational skills).
Multi-tasking and working under tight deadlines.
Job Description
GENERAL TASKS:
• Forward project results to clients through written communications and presentations.
• Update and improve skills and knowledge base.
• To be part of a proactive team of support staff responsible for delivering a high quality customer-focused professional service.
• To attend Training and Development courses/workshops as deemed necessary.
• To support and undertake such other functions and responsibilities as are required from time to time and where it is deemed relevant and advantageous to the operations.
• Work in accordance with Quality, Security, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
Should the successful applicant demonstrate an aptitude for supervisory skills and project leadership, there is an expectation that he or she may progress into a management role.
