Responsibilities will include:
Lead the development of Wellbore Stability (WBS) and Fracture gradient (FG) prediction for well planning through analysis and integration of data from off-set wells, laboratory rock testing and stress modeling across the structure.
Interpret past well data and plan future data collection for calibrating predictions of fracture gradient reduction with reservoir depletion. Participate in possible mitigation plans where necessary.
Make recommendations to multi-disciplinary team engaged in well planning and design on the selection of drilling fluid type/weight, casing string design, setting depths, potential geo-hazards and mitigation techniques, including methodology for identification, prevention and remediation of lost circulation.
Provide hole problem detection support during drilling operations and update existing WBS / FG predictions accordingly. Identify potential lost circulation zones.
Perform thorough post-well reviews of all relevant data. Update fracture gradient and WBS prediction models as needed.
Actively engage in Company Geomechanics/Pore Pressure & Fracture Gradient (PPFG) Networks.
Perform a key integration role across the Azerbaijan Region's PPFG specialist community
Mentor and develop less experienced team members, working towards PPFG/WBS status.
Contribute to the delivery of formal training courses in geomechanics and pore pressure.
Education
Essential
University degree (or equivalent) in Geosciences or Engineering
Experience
Essential
Extensive industry experience with progressively increasing responsibilities that include well planning and drilling operations.
Experienced in Fracture Gradient and Pore Pressure prediction and modeling
Excellent communication and networking skills.
High level of competency in written/spoken English
Desirable
Advance degree in Geomechanics, Petroleum Systems or Engineering.
Mud engineering, in particular LCM design and application
Wellbore Stability Analysis.
Hydraulic fracturing design and application.
Petrophysics experience including log acquisition, log editing and log interpretation.
Shallow hazards assessment and overburden characterization
