Role Outline

As a Principal Geophysicist you will be a dynamic leader with a broad range of experience both regionally and technically. Cross disciplinary communication and understanding are key tools in your ability to manage projects at both a technical and commercial level. You have strong problem solving capabilities, an ability to identify what is important and appropriate attention to detail when dealing with both your team and a project’s objectives. Familiarity with “Reserves” and/or “Equity Redetermination” would be an advantage. Some current hands on skills (interpretation, mapping, depth conversion etc) would be a benefit but a proven track record and understanding in such skills, combined with an ability to mentor and coach younger colleagues, is equally important.

Key Requirements

Experience Required
The candidate should possess:
• 20 years minimum experience of working as a geophysicist within the oil and gas industry
• Strong multi-disciplinary skills / Ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Equity Redetermination and/or Reserves Evaluation experience would be an advantage
• Ability to prioritise and deliver results to timetables
• Problem solver with ability to deliver solutions and technical excellence and be able to mentor junior staff
• Good communication both verbal and written

Job Description

You will have ideally had both oil company and consultancy experience in the past and at least 20 years of experience. You are determined and enjoy working to deadlines but equally have a sense of humour and know how to enjoy life when the time is right. You understand the importance of matching a work program to a client’s objectives and can communicate both good and bad news with equal professionalism. Your experience in the industry allows you instinctively identify what makes a difference in the overall project “value chain”.

Main Responsibilities

• Project management

• Oversight/QC/Instruction of other geophysicists’ work

• Ensure rigorous application of RPS Energy Standards and Guidelines to Risking, Reserves and Resources

• Technical representation of both RPS Energy and, when appropriate, its clients
