Job Description
My client, a leading international operator, is looking for a Senior Petroleum Systems Modeller to provide specialist technical excellence consultancy services in support of the worldwide E&P activities.
The candidate will monitor the development of new and evolving petroleum systems technologies and investigate their relevance to the assets, their applicability and implementation. The Petroleum Systems Modeller will perform specialist petroleum systems modelling and analysis functions including one or more of the following: heat flow controls and processes through time; assessment of source rock distribution, quantity and quality; kerogen type variability and its control on petroleum generation, expulsion and fluid composition; migration and entrapment of petroleum in the subsurface; pore pressure prediction.
The Petroleum Systems Modeller will champion petroleum systems modelling and analysis and support other specialists in developing a discipline strategy in response to the organisation's requirements and develop internal and external networks to enable sharing of best practice.
You will also be required to transfer knowledge via internal publications, forums, asset presentations and peer assists. The Petroleum Systems Modeller will be the focal point for problems specific to petroleum systems modelling and analysis and will advise or seek external advice to resolve them.
Experience Required Either a geochemistry or petroleum systems PhD, specialist MSc or equivalent post-graduate qualification in geoscience, geochemistry or petroleum systems analysis, or sufficiently relevant industry experience is required. You will have a track record of broad-based expertise in all aspects of petroleum systems analysis and will be able to characterise petroleum systems at all scales from frontier basins to appraisal and field development.
Experience in using PetroMod; Zetaware (Genesis & Trinity) and familiarity with Petrel would be an advantage.
Has the ability to engage, influence and energise a wide range of stakeholders on the business benefits of technology applications in own area of expertise.
Proven skills in time and project management; able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
