Job Description

Job purpose & Scope:

Geophysicist position required to carry out detail structural interpretation for reservoirs and nonreservoirs intervals including high velocity channels and anomalies on 3D seismic data. Detail fault interpretation using 3D volume attributes. Conduct fault throws and fault seal analysis studies. Build velocity model and depth surfaces. Reservoir property mapping (porosity, facies) in seismic resolution using post-stack data. Fracture mapping using post-stack attributes (dip, azimuth, coherency and curvature). Coordinate advance studies, with service companies and/or shareholders, such as inversion, detail fracture analysis and pre-stack depth migration processing to improve seismic imaging. Access and assess advance geophysics technologies for detail reservoir characterization and monitoring.

Principal Accountabilities:

Conduct 3D seismic structural interpretation and property mapping using state-of-art software and

advance technologies covering items below:

a. ) Utilize integrated 3D interpretation and visualization software such as Landmark's and GeoProbe

b. ) Conduct extensive fault mapping in 3D space.

c. ) Create accurate depth structural maps with faults taking overburden velocity anomalies into account

d. ) Conduct seismic attribute analysis including seismic inversion to extract high-resolution structural information and reservoir properties such as porosity, facies and permeability

e. ) Plan and supervise fracture analysis using post- and pre-stack data conducted by service companies.

f. ) Plan and supervise required seismic re-processing including pre-stack depth migration for high quality seismic data interpretation and analysis

g. ) Plan and supervise time-lapse seismic monitoring study conducted by service companies

h. ) Plan and propose new well data acquisition and processing such as VSP, DSI, etc, for 3D seismic interpretation control.

j.) Fluent in Window based PC software such as MS-WORD,MS-Excel and MS-Power Point.

k.) Provide support as required in ongoing field appraisal and development evaluations in different teams in PDD.

l.) Ensure delivery of the required products on agreed deadlines. Prepare technical reports and present the results of the work as required within the company and shareholders during workshops and technical reviews.

m.) Participate in the ongoing training/skills transfer and development of UAE national employees in the assigned team.

n.) Keep abreast of related development within the oil industry. Includes attending and representing client in conferences and seminars to identify new insights in the area of Arabian Plate tectonic development. Prepare reports/papers on such functions and circulates to the entire team.

o.) Know the Company health, safety and environment policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility. Ensure that work under his control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Conduct effective accident investigation and follow up. Implement specific safety management system program activities assigned to him.

Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):

Frequent contacts with the other members of the assigned team and other RD Teams. Occasional contacts with shareholders representatives and technical experts to present study results and exchange information.

Physical Effort:

5% of the working time is spent on field visits and lab work, which involves driving and walking.

The balance of the working time involves minimal physical exertion.

Work Environment: A/C environment (100%).
