Post INTERACTIVE PETROPHYSICS SOFTWARE
alsalam alaikum
Deer all
I am an engineer having good background in Petrophysics and reservoir studies but I have no practise on Interactive Petrophysics Software, so I will be appreciate if anyone have a learning video or any helpful mean to explain how can execute the software in the correct way to get all the benefits of logs and their interpretation, regarding the best method of uploading files or logs.

Thanks for your answer, it is so good I think it will help. But for more percipient, I look for something like learning lectures and seminars .
Does anyone know how much work it would take to complete a job of interpreting a suit of logs for a well?

Can someone inform me if there is a way to learn executing the software step by step, because the interpretation job is not all my work but is a part of my work and it will help me so much to save time in achieving my reservoir study work.

Can someone help me out with this? When correcting the Dual resistivity logs LLD and LLS, an input curve or value is needed. Which value should i use? BHT or

Second, how do i compute Rt from LLDc & LLSC in IP. No Rxo(MSFLC) is available.

I cannot download your ip.png attachment properly and therefore could not see what you meant in your question. I am guessing that you either need to input a "temperature" curve or a fixed value or temperature.
You should input a "temperature" which can be created by using a temperature gradient and one known temperature at a certain depth. Alternatively, you can create a "temperature" curve if you know two temperature values at two corresponding depths. This temperature curve is used to make corrections for mud, mud filtrate and mud cake resistivity values which are normally recorded at surface temperature. These resistivities are required for doing environmental corrections on your resistivity curves LLD and LLS.
You need an Rxo curve to do invasion correction on the LLD log to obtain Rt. If you don't have it, you will not be able to use the invasion correction chart. You can only do borehole corrections on the LLD and LLS curves. Then you will have to take this corrected LLD as your Rt.
Another possible way is to create a pseudo Rxo curve by calculating it using Archie's equation, assuming that the invaded zone is 100% flushed with mud filtrate (with a resistivity of Rmf). This Rmf must be a continuous curve generated by extrapolating the surface measured Rmf to downhole temperature as a function of depth. You can then try to use this pseudo Rxo to do the invasion correction on the LLD log. It will not be 100% accurate, but you can give it a try.

Thank you very much kokokyi. I used the bottom hole temp (254 F) in place for the temperature curve and also filled in the Mud Res Temp. mudcake Res temp.
With this, i could get LLDC and LLSC (which closely mimic my original LLd &LLs).

Since Rxo is absent, i used RT = 1.7* RD - 0.7 * RS
where: RD = Deep Resistivity log (ILD, LLD etc)
and RS = Shallow Resistivity (ILM or LLS)
(example: LLD = 2.0 and LLS = 1.0 to give RT = 1.7*2 - 0.7 * 1.0 = 2.7)

Is this a good approximation?

I am not sure where you got this approximate equation. If it is either from the IP software itself or some other literature, I believe the authors must have established some empirical correlation. The true Rt value will depend on the invasion profile. Therefore, it is hard to say if it is a good approximation. Both RD and RS are affected by the invasion, which is a function of Rxo. Furthermore, the diameter of invasion, in other words how extensive the invasion, will also have an effect on RD and RS. In the absence of an Rxo log, it is difficult to say how accurate is the approximation. If I were you, I would try to compute water saturation using the approximate Rt value (from your approximate equation) and compare it with the water saturation computed using the LLDc, as per IP output. If they are are about the same, I would not bother using the approximate equation to derive Rt.
