The position is an Expat FIFO role (40/20) and the prospective candidate should have excellent experience in open-cast projects as well as being a proficient user in Surpac and/or MP3.

Job Description
A mid-tier gold mining organization with current production of over 200000oz per year (increasing to over 500000oz in the next 3 years) based in a mining area in Egypt is currently looking to bring on a Chief Mine Geologist on their flagship project.
Based in the dessert of Egypt around 700km from Cairo, the company has a reserve base of around 10million 0z and an estimated mine life of 18 years but it is thought this will grow with more exploration programs to go ahead.
As Chief Mine Geologist you will be responsible for: -
1.Supervises the activities of personnel assigned to the Mine Geology department. Performs supervisory duties at the level established by Management for this position.
2.Conducts geological studies to generate orebody target areas and monitors their exploration through the development of geological concepts and ideas based on available geological data.
3.Ensures that orebody is evaluated, interpreted and mined efficiently and economically.
4.Monitors grade of the ore resource/reserve mined on a daily, monthly and yearly basis to ensure that the orebody is maximized and desired grades are achieved.
5.Exercises control over mining factors via monitoring methods and techniques employed during mining.
6.Calculates and updates ore resource/reserve for the mine on a yearly basis, provides realistic mining geological scenario for targets as developed by Exploration Department and participates in feasibility studies of other projects.
7.Develops short and long term exploration policies, geological database and knowledge of the orebody to enable mined ore to be replenished.
8.Manages the ore resources by setting strategic goals and objectives and ensuring strict adherence and implementation.
9.Plans and schedules activities to ensure successful realization of the long term goals of the mine.
The company has both underground and open-cast prospects but this role will be primarily open-cast and as such the potential candidate for this position will have a strong background in open-cast gold mining. You will be strong with both Micromine and Surpac softwares and will have experience using mp3 modelling software. My client is looking for professionals with around 10 years industry exposure. The position is a FIFO role 40/20 and will come with a strong base salary, bonus scheme and possible share options in the future.
