Job Description
Due to organic and acquisitional growth, My Client is seeking a high calibre New Ventured Geophysicist to join their Sydney office to support the assessment of New Business opportunities
Reporting to the GM Commercial, the Senior Geophysicist will be part of the Exploration and Business Development team and is responsible for:
* Providing expert geophysical interpretation, review, assessment and opportunity based recommendations relating to a rolling suite of New Business opportunities
* Supporting the existing asset teams with the interpretation of seismic datasets.
Responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring compliance with HSES policies and standards in all activities
* Carrying out subsurface technical work which will include 2D and 3D seismic structural and stratigraphic interpretation and mapping, analysis of seismic attributes, volumetrics and risking, supporting a best possible view of shortlisted New Business opportunities
* Guiding regional seismic mapping to support play element and fairway analysis for the purpose of prospectivity analysis, prospect generation / de-risking
* Advising, guiding and mentoring staff who are working geophysical data for existing assets whether in the exploration, appraisal or development phase
* Assisting in the planning of geophysical acquisition programs or technical work programmes to de-risk exploration prospects and development/appraisal targets
* Providing subsurface input to well planning and mentoring for well owners
* Overseeing evaluation programmes; supporting the use of new technologies; assist well owners in integrating well results and assessing the implications for exploration strategy
* Where requested, represent the company at technical committee meetings and workshops whether with Joint Venture partners and Government / regulatory authorities
The successful incumbent will have 10-15 years in industry to a senior technical level and have worked in both large and small E & P companies resulting in a solid understanding of the industry business drivers. Extensive exposure to 2D and 3D seismic interpretation using workstations, with a particular emphasis on working in complex structural settings and/or in poor data areas would be ideal as would experience in interpretation of seismic data in an appraisal and development context.
