The geospatial I&D specialist oversees delivery of regional and functional geospatial configurations and continuous improvement activities in support of the global geospatial strategy. He/she is responsible for identifying opportunities for geospatial continuous improvement across people, processes and technology.
Key Requirements
Essential Skills:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the field of Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Geoscience, Survey Engineering, or related field, or Information Technology or Information & Data Management complemented by significant Upstream and Geospatial experience
10+ year experience in delivering geospatial data and project support across multiple Oil and Gas user environments
Working knowledge of ESRI technology platform, model builder, and other applicable Geospatial tools.
Working knowledge of other Upstream technology (e.g. Finder, Openworks, OpenSpirit, Petra, Petrel, PPDM, GoCAD, Geographix, etc) and how they interact with GIS.
5+ years in IT and/or project management domain
Thorough understanding of both IT and Upstream Oil & Gas key business processes
Demonstrable experience linking Strategy to operational delivery
3+ year experience in Management of Change or business process improvement
Track record of collective project delivery and embedding business value improvement.
Experience working with technical teams, business analysts and process subject matter experts across various IT Functions and geographies.
Implementation of best practice standards in project delivery of I&DM and governance.
Excellent record of Stakeholder Management and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable:
MS degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Geoscience, Survey Engineering, or related field
Prior experience (5+ years) leading technical efforts in the delivery of Geospatial solutions, workflows and data across diverse user environments.
GISP and/or CMS certifications preferred.
Job Description
Governance:
Oversees the configuration of the regional and functional geospatial toolkit. He/she supports migration of legacy geospatial information and data into the standard toolkit. He/she captures regional and functional demand for standard toolkit improvements and local configuration.
Performance Management:
He/she is responsible for assuring performance of the standard toolkit configuration by working with the service managers and configurations teams. Monitors and aggregates configuration status reports of the deployed standard and legacy toolkits.
Organization:
He/she contributes as a geospatial consultant giving direction and advice to projects delivery teams led by solution managers and IT delivery managers. He/she interfaces closely with Global I&DM teams and region I&DM teams.
Process:
He/she translates detailed business requirements into technical configuration specifications for the operational and delivery team to execute. He/she works closely with the Function stakeholders and governance structure to define the workflows and processes required for successful implementations of geospatial I&D configuration activities in the Regions and Functions.
Communication and Engagement:
The geospatial I&D specialist works closely with the Global Geospatial Data Lead, the IT&S Geospatial Solution Manager and IT&S Service Managers to ensure alignment of global strategy, best practices, and standards. He/she builds a network of stakeholders in the region and functions to communicate with and achieve his/her configuration standardization and management objectives. He/she contributes to the geospatial Community of Practice.
Technology:
Ensures the integration of standard solutions project into the regions. Identifies and resolves integration and configuration challenges which may exist from the implementation of non-I&DM standard solutions.
Services:
The geospatial I&D specialist within the ID&M CoE is responsible for the geospatial configuration design and delivery to Regions and Function. He/she understands the geospatial data sets to supervise quality delivery of the presentation layer of information and data solutions. He/she monitors and supports operational data teams to ensure reliable geospatial operations.
Projects:
He/she uses his/her technical expertise to advise geospatial project teams deployed into regions or functions and he/she governs data presentation configurations.
