Post Permeability Prediction from Well Log
Dear All

In IP, if we want to predicts permeability of rock in module basic log function, How do we fill "Swi Irreducible Water" blank column?
Cause there are SW, SWU, SWT
do we use one of these water saturations or we have to calculate "SWi" ?
if we have to calculate "Swi", how can we calculate "SWi" in IP

Thanks

Regards

Good Afternoon;
Swi is irreducible water saturation or basically the minimum water saturation that can exist in the reservoir you are looking at. Swi can be derived from capillary pressure data, bulk water volume plots or from core measured water saturation if the coring was done with an oil base mud system...not valid for water base mud systems. A fall back would be if you have a similar reservoir that is producing water free and you know what the calculated water saturation is just use that as Swi.
Good luck with your project.

Hi,

Could you please tell me for which conditions or what are the criteria to use each Method (Timur, Morris Biggs Oil, Morris Biggs Gas and Schlumberger Chart K3).

Thanks in advance

You would probably be better off searching the SPWLA or SPE site for reference papers dealing with the various permeability models and their applications and limitations. These equations have been around for a long time so the reference material will be fairly old but it does exist.
