Water Saturation (SW)

This is an abbreviation for a well log acquired after or during drilling. You might have encountered this acronym SW in your log evaluation software or any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The full name for this log used in the industry is 'Water Saturation'. This log is very common in the industry.

This log displays readings of the extent to which the pore space in a formation contains water.

Concluding, this is a measure of the fraction or percentage of the pore volume occupied by a specific fluid; e.g., oil, gas, water.

This log usually has the unit 'Standard Volume Ratio'.
