Post Minimum Grid Cell Volumetrics with Pinch-outs
Hi!

I was wandering if anybody had ideas on how to use the minimum vertical cell size in Petrel?
When I create my model I usually find that there will still cells smaller than the minimum I specified.

Also, is there a way to delete or reset the cells that pinch out? I have had quite a lot of problems with finding and deleting pinch-outs based on a minimum volume of the cell or its height. This does partly do the trick but this is not very clean and the cell is still active. I would prefer to take each pinch out (or group them if they are stacked on top of each other) and then either remove them all, or combine them into a single cubic cell (which I would prefer). Combining them into a single cubic cell would change the models volume but with the amount of uncertainty already in the surface this should not be of any concern.

Any suggestions are welcome!

thanks,

James

James,

Given the general geometry of reservoir models will you not always remain having cells pinching out. That is: cells that have a certain vertical polygon much shorter that others. Is this not only a scaling issue? If it is for simulation purposes I would go for deleting them.

Or... am I missing the point here?

let me know!

Willem
