The Reservoir Characterization Team and the Petrophysics / Geomechanics Lab at the Repsol Technology Center (CTR), in Madrid is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Petrophysicist / Research Scientist. Working as a key member in a multi-disciplinary team of petrophysicists and geoscientists dedicated in performing both R&D and Technology Support (to Repsol’s Business Units) projects.
Key Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Master's or PhD degree in Science or Engineering with a focus on Petrophysics and/or, rock physics).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in petrophysics / rock physics related projects.
• A track record for successfully published research papers.
Job Description
As a senior Petrophysicist / Research Scientist, the successful candidate will become an integrated part of the geosciences team whose responsibility is performing research and development that results in improvements to better understand the physical parameters controlling the static and dynamic reservoir properties. Specific duties will include:
• Researching and developing new methodologies, measurements and fit-for-purpose new technologies related to advanced reservoir characterization technology area with a focus on Petrophysics / Rock Physics applications.
• Developing the reservoir characterization technology area research roadmap particularly focusing on peterophysics / rock physics.
• Provide technology support/solution to Repsol´s business units conducting core/borehole based petrophysics / rock-physics analyses and modelling by carefully processing and interpreting various subsurface data (e.g. log/ core, seismic, geomecanical, etc.).
• Collaborating with other key technology project teams to research and development of new/better technologies and implement business driven solutions to integrated reservoir management issues.
• Presenting results of research at international and national conferences.
• The successful candidate may provide dedicated software support and training to Repsol Business Units, as needed.
• Participate in peer assists, technical assurance reviews and competitive technical intelligence activities.
• Enhance IT and data management procedures.
