They are currently recruiting for the position of Palaeontologist, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Job Description
Our Client, one of the global leaders in the O&G industry is preparing an exciting frontier exploration project in Nova Scotia's Offshore. The multi-well exploration programme has an estimated duration of one year. Interested applicants residing in Nova Scotia will be given the first priority. The roles will be open to other Canadians, and those who are legally entitled to work in Canada.
This is an adhoc Paleontological field position that involves monitoring of grading and other earthmoving activities to support development projects in Nova Scotia.
The paleontological monitor will perform fieldwork under the direction and supervision of the Senior Paleontologist. Duties include construction monitoring, fossil salvage, laboratory preparation, data collection and analysis.
Skills & Experience
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Geology, or related field, or be working towards one with previous field experience, preferably in the Oil and Gas exploration.
- Must have prior experience conducting paleontological monitoring in a variety of settings in Canada.
- Must have the ability to work around large, loud construction equipment.
- Must have the ability to conduct fieldwork for long hours, in hot or cold conditions, with minimal assistance.
- Must have the ability to recognize fossils in the ground, use excavation tools, and salvage resources as necessary.
- Must carry appropriate materials and have the ability to jacket fossils.
This is a contract position.
The rate for this position is negotiable.
