URGENT: Working for a global leading supplier of advanced, integrated geophysical solutions in their UK GeoVentures Group… You will be responsible for incorporating gravity and magnetic data, along with 2D and 3D seismic data into play developments… Applicants are invited with a strong exploration focus, proven gravity and magnetic interpretation skills, and a strong understanding of structural geology... The role offers great exposure to the Company’s multi-client surveys across complex geological environments… Travel as required….
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geophysics essential. MSc or higher preferred.
• Proven industry or/and academic oil and gas experience essential.
• Proven background in the interpretation of gravity and magnetic data essential. Experience of gradiometry data advantageous.
• Proven experience of evaluating basins using geological and other geophysical data (e.g. Seismic) essential.
• A strong understanding/appreciation of structural geology essential.
• Experience of Oil and Gas industry new ventures and exploration essential.
• Hands-on expertise of seismic interpretation software essential (SMT/Kingdom preferred).
• Experience working on deep water passive margins highly desired with preference for salt basins and fold/thrust belts.
• Geographical mapping software experience - ArcGIS advantageous.
• A drive to be at the leading edge of technological and work practice advancement within gravity and magnetics.
• Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team essential.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with team players, clients and contractors in a technically coherent manner.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good working relationships across all stakeholders.
• Proactive, flexible and enthusiastic.
• Able to travel internationally – as required.
Job Description
Reporting to the Director of New Ventures this role encompasses many functions including:
• Become competent in the Company’s suite of software solutions, services, work flows and practices.
• Undertake geophysical evaluations by developing integrated interpretations at basin/play level.
• With your gravity and magnetic expertise, incorporate this data into the play development. You will also contribute to the interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data.
• With an understanding/appreciation of geological data, integrate well data and other geological data into the interpretation.
• Act as the focal point within the Team for Gravity and Magnetic expertise and be proactive in advising/consulting others in its application and value within an integrated approach to basin evaluation.
• Work with the Processing Teams to optimize the imaging and velocity models and ensure that such models are geologically sound.
• Support seismic program design by ensuring that parameters used are optimized to address the challenges of that specific survey.
• Be a proactive team player working effectively with external consultants in development of integrated interpretations.
• Be proactive in raising the profile and reputation of the Company as the leading supplier of image driven seismic solutions.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the business.
• Keep abreast of industry standards, trends and practices across the geophysical sector. Strive to improve your knowledge of grav and mag techniques and work practices.
This is an exciting and challenging role for an experienced geoscientist to gain exposure to complex basins and data from around the world and the opportunity to work with clients, academia and governments across the Eastern Hemisphere.
