Post Petrophysicist; Job demand.
Hi,

I am a 3rd year Petroleum Engineering student graduating in 2013.
I wanted to be a petrophysicist but I kinda worried with the job demand.

Is petrophysicist in high demand nowadays? What about the basic salary of a petrophysicist?

Thanks.

I think they are very much in demand! With most conventional reservoirs found companies are focusing on tight reservoir or unconventionals (shale gas)... usually they need more wells for this and better handhold on reservoir properties (to assess economic viability). I guess there will be more and more a shift towards precise wellbore environment analysis, than just punching a hole and seeing it all flow!

With a degree in Industrial physics, can one directly study Msc in petrophysics?

Sorry, I don't know what universities want as prerequisite for petrophysics or geology. I also believe there are not that many iniversities that offer purely petrophysics...
