Density Data Density (DDS) |
This is a well log used in the oil and gas industry. You might have encountered this acronym DDS in your log evaluation software or any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. Density Data Density is the offical name for this log. The usage of this log is well established. Use this log to investigate the density of data samples per length of borehole traversed, for a bulk density logging measurement. In general this is a measurement of the mwd data density. In other words, the density of data samples per length of borehole traversed; may be expressed as samples per unit length or as a Boolean indicator of sample presence within a depth frame. So basically this is a measure of the density (mass per unit volume) of a material. Usually at Standard conditions (STP). Also used to indicate the frequency of occurrence.This log usually has the unit 'Counts Per Length'. Data for this log is produced by a tool that uses a density logging technique and can be used to investigate the density of the formation. Similar logs are listed below:
