Working for a world leader in the production of hydrocarbon based energy, in their Unconventional Gas Team you will contribute to their growing exploration and production programme. Applicants invited with 10 years’ min industry experience combined with a strong geological and 3D basin modeling background gained working in a wide range of carbonate and/or clastic plays. Previous experience in unconventional gas desired. This is an exciting and challenging role, applying the very latest technology to the world’s largest known and most complex unconventional reserves.... Key Requirements The successful candidate will have: Job Description Reporting to Unconventional Gas Team Leader, the role encompasses many functions including: • Become competent in the Company’s exploration program for unconventional resources – understanding their challenges, technologies available etc. • Provide analysis and interpretation of petroleum systems and basin modeling results for unconventional shale gas and tight oil plays projects to permit the better estimation of risk and uncertainty prior to investment decisions. • Work seamlessly with other discipline specialists and project teams to build and calibrate appropriate 3D basin models and support business teams seeking information on: ? Source rock thermal maturity ? Hydrocarbon charge risk assessment ? Formation pressure prediction ? Reservoir property/quality estimation ? Seismic products integration • Contribute expertise in petroleum systems and 3D basin modeling. • Provide regional geological evaluation of unconventional plays. • Undertake regional analysis as appropriate to add new work areas to the project portfolio and extend the boundaries of existing areas of operation. • Perform hands-on sequence stratigraphic analysis and interpretation, and integrate products. • Perform reservoir characterization in unconventional hydrocarbons plays (tight gas, shale gas and unconventional oil). • Perform log analysis and interpretation of unconventional reservoirs. • Locate and provide geological support to drilling operations for unconventional plays. • Participate in the assessment of new technology, methodologies and workflows within petroleum systems and basin modeling discipline. • Work closely with engineering staff utilizing integrated knowledge of reservoir and petrophysical parameters to enhance completions and overall well results. • Deliver consistent and relevant interpretation products from 3D basin modeling projects. • Provide awareness and understanding of the business context of the 3D basin models being provided to ensure that they are fit-for-purpose with appropriate deliverables. • Provide assistance to asset team interpreters to provide appropriate maps for input to 3D basin modeling projects to ensure consistency and timely delivery of basin modeling products for business decisions. These Unconventional Gas Teams will consist of geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir simulation engineers, geomechanic specialists, geomodellers, drilling/completions/stimulations engineers and many more.
