Geology or Electrical Engineering future path? Now I know that the first thing you guys are gonna say is go with what interests me, but here is the real conundrum: I like technology and I also like outdoors. But that doesn't matter.

Hmm - I know of plenty of geologists who stay in laboratories all the time or look down microscopes, and plenty of electronic engineers that go out into the field, so I wouldn't get too hung up on that!

With a choice between those two subjects the first thing I'd think about was the mathematics.

If this isn't a strong area for you then I suspect electrical engineering is going to be a very tough course compared to geology; engineering subjects of all descriptions tend to be pretty equation heavy, and electronic engineering is no exception.

The second things is about the nature of the subjects - broadly speaking an in my opinion, of course:

geology is a kind of detective work - putting together clues from all sorts of things that let you "read" the history that has happened to a place, and then being able to describe it. Its about discovery, uncovering of hidden information, and imagination. The ideas you put forward will be just that - theories that others will debate, engage with, discuss.

Electronic engineering is about creating things; taking theories and ideas from paper and, with a purpose, designing (and building) systems and equipment that can robustly rise to the challenge. Its about transitioning things from your imagination to the real world, and seeing them in use, and doing their job.

If you agree with those descriptions, it kind of comes down to whether you think Batman is better than Ironman or the other way around.

Hope that makes the choices easier....
