Job Description
Operations Geologist, GOM & International - Houston
My client are a leading independent Oil and Gas exploration and production company in the US, they have been generating success through their International, US onshore and GoM assets. There is now an opportunity for an experienced Operations Geologist to join their multidiscipline team in Houston.
As Operations Geologist you will be in focusing on International and GoM company projects. You will be the key liaise and point of contact between geology/geophysics, petrophysics, reservoir and drilling through the full project life cycle. A strong knowledge of deepwater projects is required for multiple deepwater wells.
Main responsibilities:
*Prepare well specific formation evaluation plans utilizing team input
*Work with multidiscipline staff for mud logging, paleo, wireline and LWD logging, pore pressure work etc.
*Provide technical support and oversight for company website geological activities on deepwater drilling units.
*Coordinate the transportation/tracking of samples for lab analyses
*Support the well permitting process
*QC all geological wellsite services and integrate observations
*Must be able to make real-time decisions on ongoing deepwater drilling operations
*Present information to multidiscipline and management
*Able to travel to Lafayette operations to provide support for development operations
*Hire, train and mentor wellsite geologist
*Able to travel internationally and appropriately represent the company in a multicultural environment.
Essential role requirements:
*B.S degree in Earth Science or related discipline
*5+ years of relevant deepwater operations experience
*Familiar with pore pressure prediction / detection
*Familiar using geological/ and geophysical industry software
*Strong interpersonal skills to communicate clearly across a multidiscipline team and management
*Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
