Our Client are currently recruiting for the post of Lead Exploration Geophysicist to be based in Gurgaon, near Delhi, India.
Job Description
- 2D and 3D seismic interpretation including the generation of relevant time, depth, velocity and attribute maps.
- Integration of seismic interpretation with geological models, particularly in deep water depositional systems.
- Interpretation of 3D fault surfaces and creation of coherent structural models.
- Interaction with well geologist during drilling of exploration wells to update interpretations.
- Generation of well ties and detailed synthetic seismograms including wavelet analysis and fluid substitution studies to understand the seismic response.
- Work with the geophysical projects team specialists on rock physics studies as required, including seismic attribute studies, seismic modelling, inversion and AVO.
- Design and implementation of VSP surveys in Exploration wells as appropriate.
- Database co-ordination (including GIS and Geoframe).
- Written and verbal reporting of technical studies and appropriate presentation to management, partners and Government bodies and representatives.
- Support functional excellence within the asset team, including refinement of best practice workflows.
- Support the 3D interpretation working environment within the company.
- Participate in cross team/departmental peer review sessions as required.
- Coach junior geophysicists and peers in the asset team.
- Champion access to relevant leading-edge technologies.
- Develop strong working relationships across the geophysical community withing the company.
- Lead workflow and review processes and contribute to well proposals/post well evaluations/interpretation projects as required.
- Deliver projects to time and budget.
- Contribution to TCM, OCM and MCM meetings as required and instructed.
- Meetings and networking with JV partners.
- Internal meetings and networking in the company across NV, Exploration and Reservoir Development.
- Liaison with drilling, environment team and corporate as necessary.
- Be aware of Finance and Accounts key representatives to ensure payment of invoices in a timely manner
- Be aware of new geophysical technical developments to build working relationships with technology developers in this discipline.
- Contribute to the company subsurface technology programme definition and technology transfer.
Skills and Experience
- MSc or PhD in Geophysics.
- Moderate - Extensive experience primarily in seismic interpretation with a solid understanding of rock physics, along with broad technical experience in hydrocarbon exploration.
- Good understanding of seismic activities including acquisition, processing and related geophysical operations.
- Good understanding of geological processes and features apparent in seismic, including skills in seismic sequence stratigraphy and seismic geomorphology.
- Experience of numerous basins worldwide, including deep water depositional settings.
- Significant experience with an operating oil company is essential.
- Understanding of project execution and cost implications.
- Strong current geophysical workstation skills, including working in a 3D visualisation environment.
- Expertise in GIS and database management would be an advantage.
- Team player with open and flexible approach.
- Good communicator and presenter.
- Commercially aware with entrepreneurial attitude.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
This is a permenant position.
The rate for this position is negotiable.
