Our client, a leading independent consultancy firm who specialise in providing Geoscience personnel to the Oil & Gas industry, has an urgent requirement for an experienced Information Manager to join their team on a full time staff basis.
The overall objective for this role is to provide and enhance access to all business information and to improve and maintain its accuracy and provenance, to improve efficency and decision making in the business by providing colleagues with confindence in the information accessed and minimising the time taken to access it.
Key Requirements
Honours Degree, preferably in Earth Sciences is desirable but candidate with relevant experience (8-10 years in industry) in lieu of degree will be considered.
5 years (post graduate) in data management role, with an oil and gas company or service provider, preferably in the upstream sector; previous experience of re-organising and populating data taxonomies.
Knowledge of technical oil industry data types (e.g. well data, seismic data), common office documents; data management tools - ideally SharePoint; familiarity with relational database concepts (SQL/Oracle)
Job Description
Implementing group and local IM strategy in Aberdeen.
Applying group and local data classifications and metadata schemes.
Ensuring data is stored in a coherent, logical and single instance fashion, eliminating duplicates and providing audit trails where possible.
Contributing to IM policies, procedures and guidelines – ensuring their relevance and applicability and assisting the business with compliance.
Monitor data volumes and liaise with Aberdeen IT group to ensure efficient server capacity management.
This role also has responsibility for managing some business software licensing and representing clients with industry bodies.
Developing a GIS capability in the business unit.
The role also has responsibility for liaising and engaging with 3rd party data providers and specialist contractors and for managing the subsequent work done by such 3rd parties on behalf of clients.
