I am currently looking for experienced Petrologist candidates on behalf of my client - a leading international Oil and Gas company - to join their Houston-based office. This company is an industry leader in providing employee support and potential for career growth and offers opportunities to work on the absolute cutting edge of the field. Candidates need to have a strong background in sedimentology and stratigraphy as well as a good understanding of depositional systems.
Key Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience
Experience evaluating and interpreting unconventional resource plays (such as shale gas, shale oil, tight-gas)
Sequence stratigraphic interpretation
Ability to integrate with other data types (petrophysical well logs, core analysis data)
Writing reports and giving technical presentations of analysis results to clients

Candidates need to have a strong background in sedimentology and stratigraphy as well as a good understanding of depositional systems.
Essential Job Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience
Experience evaluating and interpreting unconventional resource plays (such as shale gas, shale oil, tight-gas)
Sequence stratigraphic interpretation
Ability to integrate with other data types (petrophysical well logs, core analysis data)
Writing reports and giving technical presentations of analysis results to clients
Qualifications:
Experience in analyzing a range of sedimentary rock types (including shale, sandstone, carbonate)
Experience with the following laboratory analytical techniques and sample preparations:
*Thin Section Microscopy
*Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM),
*X-ray Diffraction (XRD),
*Thin section point-counting
*Detailed core description
*Whole core fracture analysis
Education Requirements:
Master's Degree or PhD in Geology - preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Geology with extensive relevant experience also considered
Additional Required Skills:
Ability to integrate and work to a high level in a multi-disciplinary team
