What is this?

I found it in my yard. Looks volcanic to me Heat and pressure Might find them everywhere at another latitude but not here.

mhnederlof Joined: Mon Dec 05, 2011 2:26 pm Posts: 9	Re: What is this? I meaqnt that when you hit it with a hammer, it may fracture. Flint, quartz, obsidian and glass have a characteristic type of fracture, quite unlike crystalline materials, such as calcite or mica.

Although, I would observe the obvious fracture that is aparent and guess that it apears to my "inexperienced eye" that it does indeed break somewhat like glass. Thanks for all the help. rock on
