Post subject:  Need help identifying this estate sale find...

I picked this up at an estate sale and have no idea what it is. I am wondering if it is man made or natural and why someone would have created a copper display to hang it from. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, I have been searching online for hours and am back to square one.

Thank you!

Looks handmade I would think. I would not expect this coloration and the lines which seem to represent fractures in this type of rock (probably slate).
