subby613, Welcome to the forums. Difficult to say what kind of rock this is. I would either go for a extrusive lava (igneous) or for iron concretions in a sandstone (sedimentary with diagenetic overprint). Are there loose sand (quartz) grains to be seen. Does it scratch into metal? If so, it's probably a sandstone. |

A rock is formed naturally solid and the combination of two or more that two minerals. For instance, the granite is the aggregate of quartz, feldspar and biotite minerals. I think It is like sedimentary type of rock. |

It's hard to tell without a little more magnification, but it appears to be a humanized sandstone. That is a sandstone composed of quartz and maybe feldspar grains that once had a clay-rich matrix, It is common for such a matrix, and the feldspar grains, to alter to hematite upon weathering. |
