I've seen the way the industry has embraced seismic; since its advent and the development has been phenomenal...
It is being used in almost all the sister fields where studying subsurface features and structures is concerned..
What I wanted to know is: whether it is possible to reduce the cost of the equipment and its use and also standardize the interpretations, develop seismic signatures, etc etc
All in all, to summarize it, I wanted to know if exploration through seismic profiling can be so streamlined so as to make it a standalone in subsurface mapping. :)

Yes it could but consider this, so much money is invested into drilling the well to maximize its potential production of hydrocarbons, why would an E&P company NOT use every available resource to help perfect their targets & knowledge of the reservoir?
