Software for oil and gas/hydrocarbon Geochemists
Dear All,
Website/link for the above:
http://www.msfmaker08.com/ogprobe.htmThousands exploration/delineation wells have been drilled in the worlds, costing billions of dollars. From these wells, highly valuable hydrocarbon geochemical parameters have been measured or calculated, such as: Total Organic Carbon, Tmax, H/C ratio, O/C ratio, Hydrogen Index, Oxygen Index, Free gas in rock (S0), Free oil in rock (S1), Hydrogen from cracking kerogen (S2), CO2 formed by oxidation of residual organic carbon (S3), Fluorescence, Vitrinite reflectance, etc
These parameters are measured through various analyses using drill cuttings and cores: When presented in certain diagnostic plots (developed over the last 50+ years) ,they provide indispensible aids to an oil and gas company’s geochemists to identify and characterise (oil-prone or gas-prone, immature or mature or postmature) and quantify the generation of petroleum (oil and gas).
The software ebook (click our website link) documents the features, capabilities and guidelines to run a Microsoft Windows-based software called OG-PROBE (which means oil and gas probe).
With OG-PROBE, the followings can be achieved:
a) Safely store all hydrocarbon geochemical data in one secured electronic repository or database, accessible through the LAN network. Presently, the data may be stored in numerous (a) hardcopy reports and (b) spreadsheet programs (Lotus123, Excel and others), which are prone to loss and damage.
b) Achieve data selection and retrieval with only a few clicks of a PC mouse. Research has shown that geoscientists spends as much as 30% of their time to locate the required data for analysis.
c) Enable very fast and quality displays of diagnostic plots, for specific analysis or for comparing trends between selected groups of intervals, wells, reservoirs, geologic or basins. Repetitive and time-consuming (hours or days) manual plottings are replaced by fast automatic plottings. This will tremendously reduce geochemists’ time (by as much as 90%) in plotting diagnostic plots. Therefore, it releases time for them to do technical analyses.
d) With high quality diagnostic plots concurrently displayed on large LCD/LED single or multiple screens, geochemists may be able to make better source rock interpretations. With improved interpretations, they will be able to propose better exploration/delineation well locations, and hopefully this will result in increased exploration successes i.e. more discovery wells and less dry holes .
THERE IS AN IMPORT MODULE IN OG-PROBE THAT, IF HYDROCARBON GEOCHEMICAL DATA SETS ARE CURRENTLY KEPT IN SPREADSHEET FILES (EXCEL, LOTUS ETC), USER ONLY NEED TO SPECIFY THE INPUT SEQUENCE (BY COLUMNS) AND THIS SOFTWARE WILL CORRECTLY IMPORT DATA.
