hello everyone,
I'm new to the forums and signed up to ask for your thoughts on the advances in Artic exploration. I know only about half of the basins in the arctic region (north pole) have been explored. This is mainly due to the harsh conditions out there, but isn't global warming and advancements in technology going to quickly open this area up?
What are the main prolems still holding back operations like this. I know ice can harm boats and platforms, but aren't a lot of fields already producing using submersed systems? Can we simple not just go below the ice? And how is this all going to go down politically? Who owns all that teritory? I remember some sort debate several years ago about Russia, Norway, Ice land, Canada and the US claiming acreage around the north pole, but has this dispute been solved?
Oh, and if all those questions aren't enough... How about ANTArtica??
gimmy a piece of your mind
