| Post subject: | DSNT vs CNT |
Hello everybody. Could somebody please explain to me the difference between the logs measured with a Dual-spaced neutron tool (DSNT) and a Compensated neutron tool (CNT)? On the internet i found information to both of the tools, but i dont really see much difference. Thank you. |

Essentially they are the same, work on the same principle and measure thermal neutron porosity. DSNT is a Halliburton tool and CNT is from Schlumberger. They both have two neutron detectors (near and far detectors) for borehole compensation and measure thermal neutrons which came back from the formation after having been bombarded with fast neutrons from a chemical radioactive source, usually AmBe source. The ratio of the near and far count rates is then used to compute formation porosity. |
