Post Petrophysical properties define facies?
Are there special petrophysical property cut-offs that define facies or depositional environments. Co certain porosity cut-offs for instance relate to beach-sands while other indicate fluvial strate or turbidites. I would like to train my well logs on a regional scale, much like is done on denser datasets in single prospects and reservoirs. No we're working with GDE's (General Depositional Environments) interpreted by a host of different people from different companies that all have looked at the data. I want to end up with a consistent singular interpretation. (it doesn't need to be absolutely correct, bt does need to be consistent throughout the log dataset. I'm working in Petrel btw...

Hope this is clear...

thanks

I don't think there are set 'rules' or cut-off for this as sediment source and depositional energy can vary greatly between basins. You might be able to calibrate for your local settings, but this will require some manual interpretation and then possibly running a neural network correlation like is available in Petrel.

Hope this helped..

Thanks for this Petrel User! Do you have any tipos on how to setup that neural network analysis you're talking about. I have no clue and help is very much appreciated!

Thanks!!!!
