I just wanted to share a great free tool with you guys. This is a free SEGY viewer I often use to quickly check traces and view my header (byte position).

Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to use this on occasion. Has some problem loading my 3D SEGy though as it showed incorrect headers... Good for a free SEGY viewer though

This is indeed a very nice find! Although most professional software also gives some insight in the headers and setup of SEGY files, this is a quicker and more complete way (at least compared to the software I use).

It's also a free SEGY Viewer by Pheonix Data Solution, now taken over by Fugro.

The offer a simplified version of SEISVU with most of the functionality of the full version disabled. But it still offers the ability to view the seismic data (colour display and conventional black and white traces). Also, you can view all the file header information (the EBCDIC, binary, reel header and all the trace headers) There is also a fun little gimmick that let's you listen to your seismic!

You'll need to fill in a short form and then should be directed to the download page.
