Post subject:  field of geology at my job

I've come to the realization that I need to start specializing in a field of geology at my job. Since I work at a university its easy for me to take classes I want to. I've determined I fit in no better place than that of Structural Geology. Always fascinated by large scale geology. However I have only been exposed to a lot of geophysics and haven't had any petrology classes partly because I don't like sitting at a microscope and I struggled really hard just to pass my mineralogy class. I really want to start taking graduate level courses but is it really necessary to take that class? Doesn't geochemistry pretty much replace that old field of study?
