I don't think you can find the characteristics of turbidites by reading well logs. Turbidites can be identified by cores where you can see the ancient depositional environments or the tectonic settings. Sometimes all sequences in turbidites may not be present but as they represent deep water sequences formed from a convergent margin. In sequence stratigraphy, you analyze the stratigraphic units with respect to geological record in terms of sediment supply and variations in the rate of change in sea level. Well logs are used for interpretation of subsurface lithological units and the presence of hydrocarbons. I could be wrong about identifying bouma sequence from well logs, but in our petroleum geology class we were never taught to look at the sequences using well logs. Hope this helps. |
