Hi there! I am trying to make a 3D model importing a surface grid and plotting several markers and faults from a .jpg image in order to make a 3D model. However, I am new petrel user and I hardly know how to import layers nor make any approach to the modeling issue. Can anybody help me? Thaks a lot! Cheers Eastwing |

Wow, that's sounds like a tough thing to guide you through here... All I can say is that you need the surface imaging module to be able to position the jpg image in 3D space (georeference it). You could then create fault pillars directly using the fault modeling module. just digitize the faults on your map. Then you need a depth surface which you coudl make by digitizing countours in make/edit polygons. You then set these contours at ther resective depth and grid up a surface in Make/edit surface. You then use pillar gridding the make a pillar grid from your faults and pas your depth surface to it using Make Horizons process (add additional zones and layering and you have a 3d geocellular model). That's it in a nutshell. hope it helped pointing you in the right way... |

Thanks a lot for your fast reply. It´s very helpful. However these are my first steps and I hardly know how to start with. I do have all the necessary modules, but I need to know how to start. For example, how do I import the image? I just created a new project. Then I go to Process>Utilities. But then, I don´t know how to continue. Thanks again!!!! Cheers |

first, right click and choose import on selection. import the bitmap and go to it's settings to georeference it... You should also make sure you have the coordinate system set correctly for them the Project-settings dialog... It is really too much to explain here step by step. Have you tried digging into the help. It is very good for petrel. |
