Post Sample Descriptions / Analysis
I have tried to search for this topic in the forum but couldn't find anything.

Ever since I have joined mudlogging I have strived to improve sample description and to include as much detail as possible into each one so I can one day become a good WSG. Of course it's not all about sample descriptions, but that's very important anyway and I quite enjoy doing them.

I have seen some sample description guides from some companies and was not so pleased with them as they seem to lack details.

What I am looking for is a sample description guide that has a defined list of parameters that describe each kind of rock and withim these parameter a list of therms to choose from that is widelly/internationally accepted. I have seen several descriptions from WSGs that would differ greatly from one to another wordwise but meant all the same in the end.

Thanks for any help!

I recommend "Sample Examination" by R.G.Swanson, 1986, available from Amazon for $35 usd.
It´s based on a well site and laboratory sample description system developed at Shell Oil, which became an industry standard.
Good luck.

Thank you for the guide. I have already seen this one around and was looking for something more recent, if there is any.

Thank you for the help!
