Post Simple question: How does sonic relate to porosity
Can somebody please explain how sonic logs relate to porosity?

Sonic logs measure the velocity with which a sound signal passes through rock units. Sonic logs can be used to determine the porosity of subsurface formations because of the fact that sound waves are slowed in their passage through rocks by the presence of fluid-filled pores.
