Key Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
• Degree in Geophysics or related discipline essential. MSc or PhD desired.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry essential.
• Proven competence and track-record in geophysics and in particular in advanced seismic interpretation and visualization essential.
• Good communication skills, both written and oral for effective liaison with various stakeholders essential.
• HSEQ awareness essential.
• A strong understanding of the full oil and gas life cycle from exploration, production to development highly desired.
• Ability to integrate well with other discipline and exploration teams.-Required
• Competent user of 3D geophysical technologies for interpreting and visualising seismic (e.g. Petrel, FFA)
• Previous experience of working with an operator desired.
• Previous experience of working in a small integrated subsurface team highly desired.
• Good communication skills, both written and oral for effective liaison with various stakeholder essential.
• Excellent team player with the ability to integrate well with other disciplines and exploration teams essential.
• Highly flexible – ability to adapt to new project challenges, technologies and work practices.
• Strong appreciation of professional service delivery from requirement definition to delivery to end-client.
• Motivated and enthusiastic with a positive approach.
Job Description
The role encompasses many functions including:
• Perform and supervise both internal and external geophysical studies, working with the other Company assets, New Ventures and Business Development Teams.
• You will have a strong understanding of all elements of petroleum geophysics including (but not limited to) seismic interpretation, acquisition/processing and QI.
• Carryout interpretation and prospect evaluation in collaboration with other team members.
• You will have experience in both exploration and production/development geoscience and will be comfortable working in both.
• Advise the Chief Geophysicist and internal customers on geophysical technologies and applications and participate in relevant external industry forums.
• Contribute to high geophysical quality and help to develop best practice work flows for the company.
• Supervise external service providers and ensure quality assurance of their work.
• Carryout studies primarily in London but would be expected to collaborate with collegues in other Company locations, both virtually and physically.
• Be a geophysical resource to BD and asset teams as required.
• Participate in internal peer assists and functional QC.
• Act as mentor to early career Geoscientists.
