Our client is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies. Employing over 100,000 personnel in around 90 countries their strategy is to reinforce their position as a leader in the Oil & Gas industry.

They are currently recruiting for the position of Production Geologist, based in Assen, Holland.

Job Description

Our client is looking for experienced and highly motivated Production Geologist to join the Asset team in the offices in Assen. You will be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team responsible for the economic development, subsurface evaluation and the field and reservoir management of producing Rotliegend non-associated gas fields in the Southern North Sea (SNS) and new prospects. The SNS Asset is supported by a co-located, discipline-based functional organisation that provides all necessary Development Engineering and Well Engineering support. The Production Geologist reports to the PG Discipline Lead SNS. There are 12 Production and Operations Geologists working within the Asset. Close co-operation with colleagues within the subsurface disciplines and with other functions, especially Well Engineering, will be an essential part of the job.

With a Masters Degree or PhD in Geology, you'll have at least 5 years relevant experience with 3D static modeling (preferably with the PETREL software suite), field development planning and well planning and execution. It's strongly preferred that you have experience in use and construction of subsurface 3D static models, selecting subsurface targets for wells and designing drillable well tracks to reach these targets through a complex overburden. It is preferred that you have experience with geological and petrophysical log evaluation and interpretation, experience with core description and geological core analysis and a good understanding of reservoir heterogeneity and its impact on well productivity and recovery. Experience with fractured and tight reservoir evaluation and development is valued.

To be able to give expression to your best analytical skills is also fundamental in this role, particularly with respect to constructing and interpreting the resulting data. Resilience in dealing with a busy work environment, with often tight deadlines, is important. Knowledge of the southern North Sea geology and experience in southern North Sea area will be valued. The PG community in SNS consists of a relatively large number of junior PGs. The incumbent is expected to assist the PG discipline leader and the senior PG's in actively developing the less experienced PG's in his/her cluster. We are looking for a person with well-developed inter-personal and presentation skills a good team player that enjoys working in small empowered teams.

The Asset comprises over 90 gas fields in the Dutch and UK offshore areas, producing over 50 MMcm/d of gas. The offices are located in the northern Netherlands. Many of our staff live in Groningen which is a short 25 Km commute to Assen by car or train. As an old university town, Groningen enjoys a vibrant and diverse culture with plenty of opportunities for enjoying music, arts and social life.

This is a contract position.
