Job Description:
The Principal Mining Hydrogeologist performs project management duties including preparing and negotiating contracts, developing budgets, determining project scope, establising schedules, assigning project staff, and approving invoices. The successful candidate will have strong skills in applied mining hydrogeology, hydrology and water resource management and actively pursues technology applications in mining through transfer and innovation.
The role requires experience in geotechnical work flows and applications relevant to open pit slope design, an understanding of environmental geochemistry as it pertains to mining, and experience in impact assessment and mitigation solutions. Strong technical, business development, commercial, interpersonal, presentation and reporting skills enable the candidate to help develop and manage a strong water services team.
The successful Principal Mining Hydrogeologist will have a high level of understanding of the mining industry, mine water management practices, evaluation approaches, applicable technologies, and accepted standards of professional practice. Candidates will have hands on experience in operational mine dewatering, slope depressurization, applying advanced software solutions to solve groundwater management challenges, underground mine development, groundwater inflow management, and ground control. You must have proven experience in project management, feasibility study execution, and closure study management.
Responsibilities:
? Manages technical experts to ensure projects have the best teams.
? Provides professional hydrogeological support for a wide range of projects.
? Prepares sound technical and commercial plans and proposals for mining consulting services.
? Engages with customers at mine site and corporate levels to promote and sell company services.
? Works with customers, business developers, and delivery teams to ensure that deliverables meet needs and expectations.
? Takes a leading role in business development and client relationship management by regularly reviewing business opportunities with operations management, technical, and sales teams.
? Makes sure the most appropriate clients and opportunities are pursued.
? Conducts project reviews and ensures results are satisfactory.
? Exhibits value of services through seminars, technical papers, trade shows, and presentations.
? Presents papers and case studies at industry congresses.
? Provides coaching and mentoring to other senior and junior level staff.
? Adheres to all internal company processes and policies.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor of science degree in earth sciences or related subject with MSc or PhD in hydrogeology or relevant discipline.
? Minimum 15 years' consulting experience in an international firm or equivalent experience.
? Expert in at least one consulting field with fluency in English.
