Overview:

Reporting to the Lead Earth Scientist, the Operations and Well Planning Geologist (Alba & Captain) will be responsible for the planning, installation and execution of infill development wells.


Key Requirements


Minimum Required Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree (or equivalent) required in an Earth Science discipline
- Relevant Masters degree would be advantageous
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to influence and engage at all levels
- Demonstrated ability of leading and working efficiently within a multi-functional team
- Self motivated
- Ability to work and operate with minimal technical guidance
- Proven ability to establish relationships and credibility with co-venturers.

Relocation Options:
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.


Job Description


Position Details:

Key Job Responsibilities for this position:

Keep multidiscipline well execution team (Subsurface Team, Drilling & Completions Group, and wellsite team) advised concerning all subsurface aspects of well drilling.

• Act as the key liaison between the external geosteering team, onshore Subsurface Team and the wellsite for all geosteering and pilot hole decisions.

• Collate all geosteering and drilling information for 3D display to facilitate and evaluate forward plan including completion options.

• Onshore supervision, quality control and reporting of all geologic aspects of the drilling process (geosteering, lagged gas and cuttings sample logging, paleontological data collection, MWD/LWD logging, wireline logging and partner communications).

• Quality control of end of well data including composite logs and post well reporting.

• Document all pertinent G&G lessons learned.

• Contribute to Phase 2-4 aspects of well planning including population of the well planning workbook, coordinating and QC of external well plan construction, uncertainty management planning and subsurface scenario planning.

• Maintain well databases (OpenWorks, EPOS and GeoLog) and electronic folders of critical well data.

• Promote and take an active role in safety standards.
