Lead and steer the New Ventures team to identify, rank and plan key projects to create value. The role is to provide leadership and direction for the NV team and manage technical projects that bring new subsurface opportunities. This requires leading multi-disciplinary teams in projects to secure new opportunities across the exploration, appraisal or development value chain with the ultimate goal of securing new oil and gas resources. The Head of NV is required to contract and manage outsourced projects to a wide range of consultancy and data provision groups. An essential component of the role is to provide technical support to the Exploration Sr Management Team and Board on NV opportunities.
Key Requirements
Education and Relevent Experience
? Geoscience degree with proven broad experience in hydrocarbon exploration and development.
? Previous team evaluation leadership role, including regional projects, interpretation skills and understanding of relevant technology. A geological bias would be an advantage but not essential
? Willingness to travel as required .
Business Understanding
? Knowledge of workstations and associated subsurface applications e.g. Kingdom.
? Commercial awareness and understanding of concepts and issues associated with different oil and gas field development solutions.
? Entrepreneurial attitude
? Developing understanding of legal frameworks (PSC experience in particular), business negotiations, deals and solutions.
? Significant operator experience essential
Knowledge
? Wide and current knowledge of petroleum G&G exploration and development activities and techniques
? Understanding of subsurface technologies that provide competitive advantage in exploration and development projects
? In-depth knowledge of subsurface economics
? In-depth knowledge of varying international terrains and G&G impact.
Skills
? Analytical skills
? Management skills (planning, time, people development)
? Willingness to get directly involved with the evaluation work – by nature a “do-er”.
? A team player with a strong awareness of the impact of his/her own behaviour and actions on others.

Job Description
Our Client has teamed up with a leading private equity firm to establish a new oil and gas E&P Company. They are examining exciting geological systems internationally both onshore & offshore and now seek a New Ventures Manager to help them move forward.
Technical Management
• Technical Management of NV technical team and interaction with Commercial and Engineering teams on a regular basis as projects demand. Interaction with Corporate, Government and JV parties as necessary. Ability to liaise regularly with and support Sr Management with data, reports, presentations and recommendations as requested.
• External liaison critical to development of funnel of opportunities for evaluation.
Planning & Budgeting
• Developing and management of New Venture work programmes and budgets, supporting development of Overall Exploration Budget.
Strategic Contribution
• Key contributor to define and drive New Venture Strategy, Support development and maintenance of Corporate Business Plan.
• Development of regional/country or opportunity strategies as required.
Interpretation
• Technical guidance and leadership in the creation and QC of 2D and 3D derived relevant time, depth, velocity and attribute maps, synthetic seismograms and other geophysical studies
• Technical guidance and leadership in basin and play analysis, prospect & lead volumetrics and risking and in the generation of all exploratory data and presentations.
• Authorise and initiate specialist studies as required. Ensure that all information is appropriately data-based and geo-referenced, and technical work is fully documented.
• Written and verbal reporting and appropriate presentation. Provision of management information
Team Management
• Mentor and develop junior staff and provide QA/Peer Review/Process support to Sr Management and the Board on geoscience issues. Lead the multidisciplinary NV team
