BASIC FUNCTION: To co-ordinate and administer the processing reporting and department, ensuring highest quality of final deliverable to client, taking onboard industry reporting & processing standards and trends.
Fugro Survey Africa is a dynamic company, specialised in hydrographic and marine surveys. Projects are carried out for clients in the oil and gas industry, construction and dredging companies. Main services provided are positioning of rigs and vessels, and collection and interpretation of offshore survey data using acoustic equipment. Fugro Survey operate the dedicated survey vessel Geo Endeavour. Operations are executed mainly in frontier areas in Africa under challenging conditions. Fugro Survey is part of a business unit which includes offices in Leidschendam, Paris, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Angola and South Africa.
Key Requirements
a) B.Sc. level or equivalent Diploma in Cartography, GIS Mapping or Hydrographic Survey.
b) Knowledge of company specific acquisition, processing and reporting software.
c) Min. 3 years management skills.
d) Min. 5 years experience in survey industry with data processing systems i.e. AutoCAD, MicroStation.
e) English language.
f) South African citizen (or valid work permit)
g) Residing in Cape Town
h) Valid and clean driver’s license
Job Description
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Responsible for adherence to efficient and consistent processing & reporting practices.
b) Ensure efficient utilisation of reporting & processing resources, ensuring staffing consistency.
c) Manage all departmental staff including performance and staff development.
d) Update and advise Operations Co-ordinator of additional personnel support requirements.
e) Maintain and track progress of offshore processing and project plan.
f) Manage post project staffing to meet requirements.
g) Ensure continuous development of deliverables, keeping up to date with latest industry trends and advise of new OSD developments.
h) Ensure regular contact with client and/or Project Manager to verify that deliverables meet clients’ requirements.
i) Responsible for appropriate approval of final products before submission to clients.
j) Keep in touch with OSD developments, taking onboard new technology and providing feedback for new developments.
k) Accountable for efficient and secure data archiving system.
l) Stimulate and motivate compliance with and participation in Company QA/HSE standards by setting a professional example in QA/HSE and by recommending improvements of the QA/HSE system.
m) To undertake any other duties as appropriate within their competence, as required by the Operations Manager from time to time.
n) Provide regular progress feedback to the Operations Manager.
o) Ensure implementation of lessons learnt.
p) Track and analyse reporting budgets.
q) Ensure Project Managers are updated with project reporting progress and costs.
r) Advise superior on personnel resource requirements.
s) Ensure time spent on projects is properly accounted for.
t) Maintain survey information and project archive.
