Hardware for Landmark Machines

I work for a small independent operator in South America and we are acquiring 5 new Landmark machines (linked to an Openworks database). We are assessing our hardware needs and are going for top of the range IBM workstations (16GB RAM, Quad core, etc...). However our Openworks server machine is still under debate. Although Halliburton has made some suggestions we are concerned with storage capacity. On our Petrel machine our 1 Terrabyte limit is almost reached with several large scale projects. We have more than 100.000 km of 2D seismic and a total 150.000km2 of 3D seismic to load. How does Openworks use up this disc space. I know it feeds from one database and Petrel uses single project folders (with all the data; yes mostly realised... I know this is will clog up harddisk space, but we don't want to be compromised in speed).

What is your experience with these quantities of data, will 1 terrabyte be sufficient for the server or should we opt for more? How important is disk speed? and do we need raid drives?

You probably sorted this out as this is a very old post, but we are also trying to assess our hardware needs for our landmark machines... Do you have recommendations you can make? Have you completed the test phase. I know Halliburton supplies sufficient stats on hardware needs, but it can't hurt to double check!
