Anyone able to help tell me what this is?
Hey all, first and foremost I honestly know nothing about this kind of stuff.. I'm not even sure how to go about searching for more information because I don't know what to type in to get the proper search results. So I did a quick search for forums and this came up and seemed to be what I was looking for
.
Anyway I'll get to it. My family has had a cottage for 50 years now and there has been this rock that is pretty unique looking (for the area at least, we have never come across anything similar) I could go on explaining but I guess a picture would work better so here it is..
http://postimg.org/image/3rdawyvs3/Sorry its not very clear, if need be I could probably get better pictures. The reason its split at the front (I'm guessing) is because it has acted as the backside for the outside fire pit and the constant heat has done it.
Anyway, its been nicknamed the "moon rock".. haha I don't think its "out of this world" or anything, just wondering what it is, and why it looks like the way it does.
The location is in Ontario Canada's "Haliburton" cottage area, and is located on an island... if that helps at all.
thank you for the help
