HALS Standoff computed from HALS borehole identification inversion (HSO)

This is the name of a log measured along a well bore (a well-log). You might have encountered this acronym HSO in your log evaluation software or any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The official name for this log is 'HALS Standoff computed from HALS borehole identification inversion'. This log is not often acquired after (or during) drilling a well.

Use this log to investigate the distance from a sensor to the medium being investigated, such as from a logging sonde to the wall of the borehole.

So basically this is a measure of the amount of physical separation between two objects, usually maintained in order to control their interaction.

This log usually has the unit 'Cylinder Diameter'.

Data from this log can be used to investigate the standoff of the sensor. Similar logs are listed below:
