Induction conductivity (COND) |
This is a well log used in the oil and gas industry. The acronym COND can be found in any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The acronym stands for 'Induction conductivity'. Usage of this log is not high and encountering it is a rare occasion. The values of this log represent the conductivity, measured by an induction log, which represents a measurement made several feet into the formation; generally considered a measurement of the undisturbed formation. This log usually has the unit 'Conductivity'. This is the quantity of electricity transferred across unit area per unit potential gradient per unit time. In isotropic material, it is the reciprocal of Resistivity. Sometimes called Specific Conductance. Data for this log is produced by a tool that uses a induction logging technique and can be used to investigate the conductivitty of the formation.
