Coherence Value at Shear Peak (COHS) |
This is the name of a log measured along a well bore (a well-log). You might have encountered this acronym COHS in your log evaluation software or any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The acronym stands for 'Coherence Value at Shear Peak'. This log is not used too often in the industry. This log can be used to evaluate the measure of waveform coherence with respect to slowness and time, computed as a function of coherent energy to total energy; also called "Semblance" So basically this is a measure of the similarity between two or more functions; used with seismic waveforms to distinguish seismic events and to implement automatic picking schemes.This log in unitless. Either the log measurements can not be expressed with a unit (eg. a ratio) or the unit is unknown to us. Data for this log is produced by a tool that uses a acoustic logging technique and can be used to investigate the acoustic slowness of the formation. Similar logs are listed below:
