Detector Blade Face With Respect to Magnetic North (BFM) |
This is a well log used in the oil and gas industry. You might have encountered this acronym BFM in your log evaluation software or any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The abreviatin stands for 'Detector Blade Face With Respect to Magnetic North'. This log is not used too often in the industry. This log can be used to evaluate the azimuth of a sensor on a logging device, used to determine the orientation of the device. So basically this is a measure of the horizontal angle measured clockwise from true North. (Also referred to as True Bearing.) Occasionally azimuth will be specified relative to some other reference.This log usually has the unit 'Plane Angle'. This is the angular displacement between two lines extending from the same point, measured in the plane of the two lines. Data from this log can be used to investigate the azimuth of the sensor.
